• The Hugh and Bobbe Kaul Wildflower Garden is a seven-acre naturalistic rock garden showcasing native wildflowers. It is located in a former sandstone quarry on the northern edge of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in Lane Park. John Manion is the curator. The garden's plantings showcase Alabama's diverse woodland flora in a series of vignettes taking advantage of variations in soils, shade and slope. More than 400 species of native trees, shrubs, vines and flowers, including native azaleas, are viewable in the garden.

December 2017 Fred Bess was given a tour by John Manion of the Florida Torreya plantings and the seed nursery. Torreya Guardians has documented that Jack Johnston distributed 40 seeds to the garden, autumn of 2015. Primary seed donor is Atlanta Botanical Garden. Fred Bess writes: "His volunteers had just potted up 30 plus seeds, they have a number of second year seedlings and several plants a foot or more tall in the gardens.
